Postdoctoral Fellows – UAB, Heersink School of Medicine
Description: Melkani lab (https://sites.uab.edu/melkani-lab/) at the UAB, Heersink School of Medicine has immediate openings for two postdoctoral fellows in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, aging, microbiomes, circadian clocks, Time-restricted feeding, genetics, and genomics. Under the direction of PI, the postdoctoral candidates will conduct independent genetic, physiological, and behavioral research on NIH-funded grants to reveal the linkage between the microbiome and circadian rhythms with Alzheimer’s disease using Drosophila genetic model. These pathophysiological and genetic linkages include communications between the brain and peripheral tissues, including the gut, heart, skeletal muscle, and fat bodies. The Responsibilities also will include the design and execution of experimental procedures, actively writing the manuscript, and attending national/international seminars. The postdoc fellows’ additional duties include supervising students and helping them troubleshoot new experiments.
Qualifications: A minimum Ph.D. degree is required in the areas of biological/biomedical sciences with experience with in vivo models-related research. Experience in genetics, genomics, and omics techniques is not required but strongly preferred.
Interested candidates should submit a CV, a cover letter detailing research experience, and contact details of three references to:
