Description

The Department of Biology at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a part-time lecturer. The successful candidate would interface with the lecture portion of the Human Anatomy and Development course. The University has invested in an upgraded state-of-the-art modern laboratory facility that will house all the biology lab courses including a dedicated anatomy lab. This course, which will be offered beginning in the fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, will include representative animal dissection as well as human anatomy instruction that will center around an Anatomage digital table and licensed software. The successful candidate will help with the ongoing redesign of this laboratory curriculum. Responsibilities will include interfacing with the lecture component of the course, overseeing one or two laboratory sections (10-25 students per section) during the Fall semesters, and developing, administering, and grading exams.  Additional teaching opportunities may be available.  This teaching assignment normally will begin in the fall semester, but initial employment will be expected in July 2025 for preliminary training and course preparation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Teach in-person instruction for Vertebrate Structure lab (name of course may change). Evaluate Student progress via exams and class performance.

Utilize web-based system to monitor the roster for accuracy, submit grades and other course administration.

Communication with students and faculty.

Participate in planning meetings prior to the start of the program and follow up instructor meetings.

Qualifications

Masters and/or Ph.D degree in Anatomy.

Teaching experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to utilize web-based programs to access rosters, submit grades and complete course management.
