Passing of Paolo Sassone-Corsi

With deep sadness we share with you the news of Professor Paolo Sassone-Corsi’s untimely demise.

Paolo passed away suddenly at his home in Irvine yesterday. He was a creative and bold scientist, whose world-renowned research spanned many areas. Paolo identified epigenetic mechanisms underlying circadian regulation and elucidated links between circadian clocks and metabolism and even cancer. The chronobiology field has lost a valued and eminent colleague.

Many of us also remember Paolo as a fun-loving person, who eagerly participated in social events at circadian conferences, be it a soccer game or a dance party. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with Paolo’s wife, Emiliana, and the rest of his family.
